Gregory E Montone

Gregory E. Montone received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers College in 1970 and his J.D., cum laude, from Washington College of Law at American University in 1977. While attending the Washington College of Law, he served on the Law Review, first as a staff member, 1974 75, and later as book review editor, 1975 76.

A specialist in intellectual property matters including patent prosecution, particularly in the semiconductor, electronic, computer, electro-mechanical and communication fields, as well as interference practice, preparation of validity and infringement opinions, patent licensing and litigation, and handling of mask work, trademark and copyright matters.

From 1970 until 1976, he worked as a patent examiner for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in the areas of radar systems and electronic circuitry. He also served as a patent agent for the U.S. Navy Research Office in 1976 77 and later as a patent attorney for Western Electric in 1977 78. He joined the firm in 1978.

His professional memberships include the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Bar Association of the District of Columbia. He serves as intellectual property counsel, pro bono, for the Northern Virginia Youth Symphony Orchestra Association and the American Youth Philharmonic.

He is admitted to the bar in Virginia, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
